It’s true that we’re getting married on an island, and it’ll be too cold to swim come September 15. Instead, we suggest canoes. Some of you may have canoes of your own to bring. Most of you would like to rent canoes. And, others have indicated they would like to be ferried over to the island by expert canoeists.
If you plan on renting, here is the information you will need:
Bruce White runs a canoe shop in the park. When you check in at the park office, they can direct you to his dock, which is on the lagoon. He doesn’t take reservations, but instead has 2 dozen canoes at the put-in at Joeperry. However, you visit him first to fill out your contract, pick up your paddles and PFDs. He is there from early morning until sundown, so if you are arriving late on Friday and expect to get there after — or close to — dark, give him a call earlier in the day and let him know. He’ll make an arrangement for you. While he doesn’t normally accommodate late arrivals, he is happy to make an exception for this special occasion. You can contact him at 613-202-2077. Let him know that you’re attending the wedding on Joeperry. His rates are: 1hr at $10, 4 hrs at $20, 8 hrs at $25 and 24 hrs at $30.
If all you want is a ferry ride on Saturday to and from the island, we ask that you let us know and we’ll arrange to have someone shuttle you.
